This project is perfect for ages 3 and up
Materials needed:
Clay (self hardening or polymer clay will work), stamps, rolling pin, cutting tool (I recommend using plastic knives. They are inexpensive and safe for younger children.), paint, clear varnish, magnets, glue for ceramics. (I recommend E-6000).
Step 1: Take a lump of clay and flatten it with a rolling pin until it is about ½ inch thick.

Step 2: Cut your pancake of clay into strips. No need to be perfect. They can be asymmetrical and they will change it shape when stamped.
Step 3: I used polymer clay stamps that come in flat rubber sheets. You can also use regular stamps. When using the stamp sheets place the pieces on top of the sheets then gently flatten with the rolling pin. If using regular stamps push into the clay gently but firmly. Be careful that the clay is no thinner that ¼ inch.

Step 4: Peel the clay off of the stamp carefully.
Step 5: Let dry thoroughly. If using polymer clay follow the instructions to bake and harden.

Step 6: If using self hardening clay wait until the clay has dried and finish with a coat of paint.
Step 7: Seal your magnets with a clear coat of varnish.
Step 8: The next step requires the adults to assist because this glue is not child friendly for the younger children. It dries quick and the bottle is not easy to hold for little hands. When the clear varnish has dried attach the magnets to the backside with E-6000 or any heavy duty ceramic glue.

All done! Aren't they gorgeous!!
