The Haute Pink Bazaar and Silent Auction is sponsored by the brand new Alamo City Etsy Street Team (ACEST). Geminita, founder and director of the new team chose June 23rd, National Pink Day, as the date for their first official event. The goal of this promotion is to raise funds and awareness for both the local Etsy artist’s group as well as the Alamo Breast Cancer Foundation (ABCF), which provides mammograms, sonograms, and biopsies for women who are unable to afford them.
Artist and ACEST member, Brandy Garcia, offered to host the event at her shop, BLink, located at 707 S St Mary's Street in Southtown—the hip and happening arts district of San Antonio, TX. Though a small group, the diverse and talented members of ACEST worked together to publicize the event and to provide wine, hors d’oeuvres, artwork, music and fun as the backdrop for this gala.

The public is invited to come anytime between 7-11:00 pm to meet the ACEST artists and artisans, mingle with other Alamo City residents and support the ABCF. Among the items being offered in the silent auction is an autographed Audrey Hepburn photograph with a certificate of authenticity that was provided by Autograph Store Charity Fundraising, an organization that specializes in memorabilia for charity fundraisers. Visitors will also have the opportunity to enter a raffle to win awesome prizes and to buy handmade artwork created by ACEST members. Fifteen fabulous gift bags will be given to the first 15 buyers.
Geminita is proud of the group she leads and said, “I'm tremendously lucky to have such a diverse and talented group working together to make our team a success.” Tracy from The Bead Loft is the group’s Online Community Coordinator. Rikky Moller, a local graphic artist volunteered his services to their cause and designed the ACEST logo pictured above. As membership grows they will continue to fill team positions.
ACEST is a cooperative group of crafters, artists, and artisans living and working in the San Antonio area who sell their goods on Etsy. Their mission is to unite the San Antonio handmade community while working together to craft their businesses on a strong foundation. Monthly meetings are normally held on the Saturday following the first Friday of each month. You can learn more about this group by going to their blog.

The Alamo City Team may be just starting out, but they are making a big impact as they promote the handmade movement in the San Antonio area. They have been mentioned in both the San Antonio Express News and the San Antonio Current. If you can’t attend the Haute Pink Bazaar in person, you can still see the items these creative and dedicated artists are offering in their Etsy shops by visiting Etsy.com and searching for “AlamoTeam” or you can just click here.
