Thinking of purchasing a PDF sewing pattern, but don'tt know what to look out for? Here are some more tips on selecting and purchasing your sewing pattern.
When selecting PDF sewing patterns, be sure to check out the seller’s policies on using the sewing patterns. There would be information on copyright policies, such as whether the pattern is for personal use only.
Some sellers will allow you to sell your work without requiring an acknowledgement. Others may allow only limited quantities be sold, and may request an acknowledgement in your product listing. This condition may not be important when you purchase the pattern, but it is wise to have the option kept open.
Looking through past customers’ testimonials will help you understand if the instructions written are clear. Some comments may let you know if there are diagrams or color photographs that are helpful. From the testimonials, you would also be able to grasp the usefulness of the sewing pattern.
Go through the product listing to find out if computer-aided-designed (CAD) or hand-drawn sewing patterns are included, what the sizing is and if seam allowances are included. Some patterns offer multiple sizing. Checkto make sure you have all the equipment and tools needed for the project.
Match the sewing pattern to your own skills and capability. For beginners, select “Very Easy” or “Easy” patterns with sewing features that you can handle. If you would like to challenge yourself, select a pattern with a feature that you want to learn, for example inserting a concealed zipper or adding in kimono sleeves.
Some pattern makers may add in pattern upgrades free for their customers. Pattern upgrades are free bonuses and add to the variety of the sewing pattern. Once again, it’s not an important condition, but with it comes more choices.
