These past few weeks, we went though many seam tacking techniques. Today we'll finish up by focusing on diagonal tacking.
Diagonal tacking is used to hold fabric together where more than a row of tacking is needed. This would most likely be used when you are attaching a collar or jacket lapel. It may be done vertically or horizontally.
For vertical diagonal tacking, take a ¼” stitch at regular ¾” intervals.
To perform horizontal diagonal tacking, take a ½” stitch, drop ¾” diagonally, and take another 1/2 -in. stitch. Return diagonally to the first stitch, keeping the thread parallel to existing work, and repeat.
Diagonal seam tacking is an easy way to make sure your project has professional results.
