I LOVE this tutorial. I think I want to marry this tutorial. HOW incredibly brilliant is this? I don't know about you but I have my fair share of cake in this house and have the frosting cans left over. (How many? We'll keep that between me and my tummy.)I found this while surfing google and am in love. I can't wait to make these to hold crayons, pens, and more! http://www.lemonlimepie.com/2009/04/easy-upcycle-project.html

Simply gather some scrapbook paper, clean frosting cans (or perhaps aluminum cans from your canned veggies?) hot glue, and scissors! Viola! A very pretty, functional pen holder for just a few pennies and time! And another piece of garbage saved from landfills! I would like to try this with fabric, because, well I have so much of it, and I'd love to see the texures you could put on the cans!
No time to create this? No problem! The ingenius artisans of Artfire have you covered! Check out this upcycled floppy disk pencil holder by GeekGearStore. Way cool!

And this real birch covered desk organizer set from NHWoodscreations--now THAT is upcycling in nature!!

So if you're pressed for time, you can find awesome upcycled pen containers on Artfire, but next time you bake a cake, why not hang on to that frosting can and make your own! This is a great project for kids to! Even little ones can make these if you omit the hot glue for some tape! Kids LOVE tape---trust me!
Happy upcycling!
