Grab Buttons For Blogs; How To Create One

August 31, 2009 | By

You’ve seen blogs that have a 125x125 “button” saying Grab My Button or called Badges, right? You copy the code and then paste it somewhere on your blog. When you click on it, it directs you to that person’s blog or shoppe. This is a great way for others to see your shop and or blog.

But how do you create one?

It’s easier than you think, but you need to first set up a Photobucket account or a Flickr account. Both are free. You need a public online storage area to place your online image to use as your grab button.

Looking back on my previous articles on how to create online ads using your photos, you then upload the flattened, 125zx125, web ready jpeg to either Photobucket or Flickr account. The reason that I suggest a 125x125 size is that it’s the best type that can easily fit within a blog’s side bar.

Here is the code:
<a href="YOUR WEBSITE LINK HERE"target="_blank"><img alt="NAME OF YOUR WEBSITE HERE" src="YOUR IMAGE LINK HERE"/></a>

<a href="http://positivethinkingeveryday.blogspot.com" target="_blank"><img alt="Positive Thinking Everyday" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3331/3438444736_9d4eb75775_o.jpg"/></a>

So your blog or website href would look like this:
http://positivethinkingeveryday.blogspot.com” or http://www.yoursite.com”

The src stands for Source, the source of your image.
If you use Photobucket it would look like this:

If you use Flickr it would look like this:
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3331/3438444736_9d4eb75775_o.jpg
To get the code for Flickr, open your image and click on All Sizes and you’ll see the code.

Then copy the code and paste it into your blog. If you Blogspot, create an HTML Widget in your Layout and put it in there. Place your Widget in a place that others can easily see it.

Voila! You’ve created a Blog Badge/Button!

Comment here with your site or blog to share with others!
