“Viva Mexico,” and Viva the Etsy Mexico Team!

The Etsy Mexico Team is celebrating their comeback by holding a giveaway in conjunction with their country’s Independence Day.

Their Independence Day Giveaway was announced August 25 on their team blog and already has forty-nine (49) eager wannabe winners. By joining others in entering their giveaway, you can help this dedicated and energetic group of artists get back on their feet, and at the same time, earn a chance to win one of the beautiful items being offered by the talented members of their group.

“We are experiencing a revival after a long hiatus and are starting from the bottom up. Our goal is to raise awareness about the awesome things we Mexican artisans are doing as we re-emerge, so it’s important for us to mark our comeback with something big”, said Jimena, leader of the Etsy Mexico Team and the artist behind Etsy’s Panoptica.MT_Cameo_Ring_by_foufouchat.jpg

September 16th is an important national holiday for Mexicans. On that day in 1810, the Mexican Independence War started as the people of Mexico sought their independence from the Spain Crown. Each year the citizens of Mexico are filled with national pride as they begin their celebration on the eve of September 15 and continue with festivities throughout the 16th.

Members of the Etsy Mexico Team are also proud to once again be working together in promoting and supporting each others creative endeavors. “Mexico’s Independence Day seemed like a fitting time to celebrate our re-emergence on the Etsy scene,” explained Jimena. “Plus, it’s our own special day as Mexicans, and no other holidays overshadow us.”

The Mexico Team wants to be known as an active team, who creates incredible handmade items, and whose promotions are always great. During this giveaway, they are asking others to mention the Independence Day Giveaway on their personal blogs, to sign up to follow the team’s blog, to follow them on Twitter, and to become a fan on Facebook. Each of these activities earns participants a chance to win one of the 10 items that will be given away on September 19th. If you do all four, you’ll receive four entries. Just go to the Mexico Team Blog and leave a comment listing the ways you’ve helped them get the word out.

We want shoppers to win! That’s the main part of this event,” remarked Jimena. This is a small, but fired up, group of artists and handcrafters. Their energy level is high and their enthusiasm for their artistry is contagious. They want to get their work out there, and they want to have fun doing it.

Here’s a list oMT_Screen_Print_Craftibag_by_chocorockandroll.jpgf items being offered in this giveway.:
A set of two round scrabble bobby pins by Panoptica
A black crystal red coral ring by TooFashion
A sunshine crochet necklace by JustineJustine
A screen printed Craftibag by ChocoRockandRoll
A black hand-embroidered headband by MireilleManuel
A green and stripes pencil case by Ziazia
A ladylike resin cameo ring with pearls by Foufouchat

A wedding and mariposa bracelet by Glasspond Studio
A loteria recycled pouch by Productos Grrr!
You can enter right up until midnight on September 18th. For full directions see the Mexico Team Blog

Even before their current giveaway is over, the Etsy Mexico Team is planning another event. It could possibly be an online scavenger hunt like the one they did last year for El Día de los Muertos (The Day of the Dead), which is celebrated in Mexico on November 2. This festival is a Mexican folkloric tradition which is similar to the American celebration of Halloween. The Mexico Team will be posting more about that on their blog.

I’m now a proud follower of this emerging team and hope you’ll join me in applauding and encouraging this group of artists. If you follow them now, you can receive an entry for the current giveaway and stay informed about all their future promotions. Let’s all echo back to them the cry, “Viva Mexico” and Viva the Etsy Mexico Team!
