It’s officially fall and acorns are everywhere. I have a gorgeous oak tree just outside my living room window. Every time I look out I think of all the cute and crafty things that might be done with acorns.
Suggested Ages: 5 and up (Adult assistance needed with the hot glue gun)
Time Needed: varies
Supplies:
Acorns
Twigs
Black Sharpie marker
Hot glue gun
Faces
This is the simplest and would be enjoyed by the youngest little crafter. Find the largest acorn possible with the little cap intact. Allow your child to draw a face with a sharpie marker.
Picture Frames
A plain wood frame would be great dressed up with some acorn caps. Collect as many as you can. Using the hot glue gun (with adult supervision) attach them to the picture frame.
Place Cards
For Thanksgiving dinner your child could make some lovely place cards. Using card stock cut out cards 4” x 5”. Cut as many as you need. Fold the card in half in order to create a little tent. The place card should now measure 2” x 5”. Write the guests name on the card and allow your child to decorate using the acorns, twigs and raffia. Tacky glue or a hot glue gun should be used to secure the decorations. The hot glue gun will require your assistance/supervision.
Décor
This is very simple. Collect as many acorns as possible and place them in a decorative glass container. You might mix them with other items. I mixed mine with decorative cranberries.
