Sellers Planning Ahead for 2010 - Get Inspired

December 08, 2009 | By (ArtFire Blog)

Christmas is coming - yeah, sure we ALL know that by nowWink.  ArtFire is packed with festive merchandise and it's so inspiring to see all the handmade art.  Just check out the special deals spilling from every page by sellers who have been planning ahead to make Christmas easier for buyers.

Planning ahead.  That's the key isn't it.  For us to sit spoiled for choice when doing our ArftFire shopping, sellers have been thinking about their handmade work for months.  They have been planning and getting organised, and 2010 will be no different.  Valentines Day is less than three months away, Easter is nearer than you think!

But, before you panic, just remember that by planning ahead you can be up to speed long before the event actually arrives.  Just get your calendar out, sit down with a cup of coffee and check when the main events will be in 2010.  Mother's Day, Father's Day, Easter, Valentine's Day, Birthdays, Chanukah, Dios de Muertos etc.,.....   Now think which you, as an artist, will be working towards.

For example, card makers will be working towards everyone's events, but soap makers might focus on pretty things for Birthdays; Jewellery makers might want to focus on Birthdays, Mothers Day, Fathers Day...  See what I mean?  You can make choices now - by planning.

With your "forward planning" 2010 diary in front of you, you can start looking for inspiration with specific areas to focus on, without looking at the dates next year and thinking 'Eeeek' only two weeks to Mother's Day.  You can start to browse through your sketch books for new ideas, check your latest magazines for coming trends,  and then start creating fresh and new merchandise for your customers.

Without the extra pressure of rushing to make new work, you can enjoy your crafting more and with happier spirits create in a more relaxed and cheerful way.  This will shine through in your crafts - and people pick up on happy people!  So, an hour planning now - just an outline and a note of, say, 3 weeks to XXXX as a reminder in your diary, you are all set for 2010.

The super cute  Hang Tag Calendar is by ewenmeprintables who have some lovely plan ahead stuff!
