How to Create a Triple Stitch

May 26, 2009 | By

Triple stitching allows seams to be strong and prevents them from coming apart. Triple stitching is usually used to secure stress points, handles and zippers.

Sewing machines usually have a reverse mechanism for reverse stitching, be it straight stitches or zigzag stitches. It comes in many forms, so please do check your sewing machine manual for the instructions.

To do a triple stitch, start with a back stitch to secure the stitching. Then start sewing a line down. Stop at the point you want the triple stitching to end, and reverse the sewing, before traveling down the intended route again. Important areas like zippers, corner, and points may need to be strengthened with triple stitching.
