I'm a full time paramedic in the Houston area and have been working in EMS for over 16 years. I really love working in the medical field and it has been good to me in many ways. I was initially attending college for a B.A. in Creative Writing before I changed career paths into paramedicine. I also spent 8 years in the US Army as a section Sargent in Military Intelligence; which gave me invaluable life lessons. I also work freelance for an online medical continuing education site for paramedics and have several articles published. However, my first love has always been art. Funny thing, I'm older than I look!
I'm a very creative person and have expressed it in numerous mediums. I'm a artist of realism drawing and painting, primarily in colored pencil and watercolor. I'm also proficient in writing, foil fencing, cross stitching, crochet, scrapbooking, photography, baking, and calligraphy.
My current artistic outlet is jewelry, which I was inspired to begin making last August when I made earrings from my parrot's, Royal, feathers. She's my shop avatar. I started making jewelry and received numerous emails regarding custom work and quickly decided to start my business, Feathered Friends Mementos.
I opened my Etsy shop but found Artfire through Twitter, checked out the site, signed up and have never regretted that decision. I feel strongly that Artfire is the future of the Handmade Movement and I'm very excited to be a part of this business!
