Carri Travis
Columnist, Guilds & Teams
I've always been an artist, since the time I could pick up a crayon or a pencil or marker. The women in my family are very crafty; they are always creating something, whether the creations are drawings or paintings, photography or sculpture, graphic design, or the written word. I can't express enough how much passion I have for creating and wanting to share that creativity with everyone I meet.
I got my art degree from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois, where I also minored in Art History and dabbled in Costume Design in theater my senior year. I use my college training to create works based mostly in history and myth. I love the richness of the stories that are out there and am always thinking of ways to bring my own ideas to the table. I opened my website four years ago, and aside from working the festival circuit during spring, summer and fall, I also sell my work now on ArtFire and Etsy.
Because I'm a glutton for punishment, I took the initiative to create a Guild on ArtFire called The ArtFire Fantasy Guild, where other artists like myself gather together to present our work.
I hope you enjoy my articles, and please feel free to comment, and check out my sites to see more of my work.
